I’m searching for my birth mother Patricia Audrey Thorpe. She was a performer on the variety circuit around Britain until 1957 when she became pregnant to a fellow performer. She would have been about 17 at the time. She was primarily a dancer. If anyone has any information I’d be so grateful.

On www.FreeBMD.org.uk. By searching with just “Patricia” in 1974
There are 3 Patricia Audrey deaths
One has a date of birth of 25 Feb 1940. The others are 1927 and 1930 dates of birth.
This gives you a surname.
Can use same data base to find a marriage that fits. I haven’t posted because it is likely the husband could be alive.
Purchase of the marriage cert would give you her father’s name.

I think you could order all three at once specifying to the GRO that you only want them if the A stands for Audrey and father X according to what the marriage tells you.

She's the birthday 25th February 1940, and she died May 6th 1974. I have her parents' names - father Lawrence Mellentin died September 2nd 1940, and her mother Ethel (Penny) nee Oates died 1973. But I was hoping to find any family of her mother and her father. Patricia was an only child, and I think her mother was as well.
But maybe I can trace Lawrence's brother and sister and find out what happened to them.

Ethel Oates married Lawrence Mellentin and then he was KIA in 1940 after Patricia was born, then Ethel quickly married Edwin Albert Thorpe. So Patricia Mellentin was then changed to Patricia Thorpe. These are definite, I have the birth, death and marriage certificates.

So what does Ethel’s and Lawrence’s marriage cert tell you? And who were the witnesses?

The tree indicates a wife, but she is private.

Probate with an address is on Ancestry for that death
Looks like just one child born 1946, who married in 1968

Patricia's birth reg is 25th February 1940.
Ethel's marriage cert is in transit from the UK to Australia, but her death certificate only has Edwin Thorpe on it. Patricia's marriage cert has just signatures on the witness line, and only an initial for the first names.

Anything more than that. Most of that was done by a third cousin who found me after DNA tests, and I'm not sure how much is completely accurate.
I know for sure Patricia's birth, marriage and death, and Ethel's birth, marriages and death, but I'm not a hundred percent sure about the Mellentin details, or anything else.
Considerable time has passed since I made the first post here, at a time when I knew absolutely nothing. Everything I now know about Patricia aside from her name has only surfaced in the last couple of months. So I'm hoping there may be someone who has more information.

Who did Patricia Marry?

She married Eric Francis Gregory in August 1965. After she died he took up with a lady named Denise but I don’t know if they actually married. I’ve been in contact with Denise and she actually found photographs of Patricia in a storage box so she’s posted them to me. But I won’t get them for weeks because postage is grindingly slow at the moment.
Unfortunately she knew nothing about Patricia’s family except that Eric had mentioned Patricia visiting her mother.

Chris Carlsen was his stage name, his real name was William Stygal.

Ive seen that and his wifes name..Also his two daughters births...There's a youtube bit on him singing..There's lots on him compering pop shows in the sixties.It looks like he did a bit of acting too... I Googled Chris Carlsen comedian..
David St John talks about knowing him when he went into comedy.He went to Tunisia with him to work.

Oh wow. He was my biological father. I’ve only seen a couple of things on him. I don’t suppose you’d mind posting more links?
I’ve got three short videos of him and that’s it.
I spoke to him on the phone shortly before he died. But unfortunately his older daughter hated me because I was the child of her father’s affair. So she shut me out.

Oh wow. Thank you for all those links. I know they met doing the Twinkle shows. Patricia was a professional ballerina and she also did the variety circuit. She was one of the Rosebuds for a while.
She shared a flat with Christine Yates who married American actor/director Stephen Douglass. There are news clippings about that.
I’ve no idea what that court listing is about.

Yes that’s correct. Patricia was one of the Clarkson Rosebuds. But frustratingly I cannot find any photos from then.
