Hi there,
After such a successful search on my previous post i am hoping you can all help me with another one. I am looking for a death date/registration for the following person;
Mary Ann Waite (nee Jolly) b1855 Harlington
Parents;
Thomas Jolly b1819 in Weeley, Essex
Elizabet Stevens b1825 in Chelsea
Spouse;
Charles John Samuel Waite
b1855 in Royston, Cambridgeshire
The last time she shows up on the census is the last available one (which i know we are not allowed to discuss.) Her husband doesn't pass away until 1933 in Southwark. But i can not seem to find a death entry for her.
Can anyone help with this small mystery?

We are allowed to discuss the 1911 census! Just not to do lookups for others. There's nothing stopping you telling us what you've found for yourself, and if that's the last known sighting it's rather important.
So: where have you found her in 1911? Have you looked for her in the 1939 Register?
-
That's good to know, thank you.
So in 1911, she is living with her husband and children at;
15 Great Charlotte Street, New Cut S E
Christchurch and St Saviour Southwark
I unfortunately don't have access to 1939 registry, only due to funds, i have only a monthly subscription with another site.

OK, so she's just "Mary" Waite at that time.
Children's marriages:
12 May 1912: Mabel Annie Waite marries in Southwark, abode 15 Gt Charlotte St, witnessed by her father and by Beatrice Alice Waite.
28 Jun 1915: Henry James Waite marries in Newington, abode 1 Farrell Ct, Walworth, witnessed by Maud Alicia Waite and Thomas Harding Mapp.
22 Feb 1920: Maud Alicia Waite marries in Lambeth, abode 15 Gt Charlotte St, witnessed by her father and by Ellenor Emily Marney.
No sign (yet) of Mary Ann as a witness, but at least these show that the family was associated with the 15 Great Charlotte St address until at least 1920.

Have you got her husband's death certificate? If so, who was the informant and does it say widower of Mary or husband of Mary. If you knew that, you would know she was either alive or deceased at the time of her husband's death.
-
I haven't got her husbands death certificate as of yet. Since the recent lowering of cost on the PDF pilot thing, i think i will stretch to get a few more certificates now like this.
As always, i wasn't expecting a Mary Waite to be to much of a struggle to find an entry for.

Electoral roll for 1928
15 Great Charlotte St, Blackfriars Rd
George Marney
Maud Alicia Marney
Charles John Samuel Waite
For 1926: same people, plus a Samuel Morris.
-
Mary Ann Waite is listed in the electoral roll at 15 Great Charlotte St in 1918, 1919, 1920, 1921 (but not in 1923 or later).
-
So that gives a very narrow window for a death, 2 years, unless she left Samuel.
-
There is a Southwark death in Mar qtr 1921 of a Mary A WADE, aged 70, but obviously not a perfect match on surname or age. ???
-
She's listed in 1922
There is this one
June 1923 Southwark 1d 16
Waite, Mary Ann Adda
age 65
Adda is what it says on the new GRO index
-
How about
June quarter 1923
Mary A A Waite 65
Southwark
1d 16
Age only slightly out I think?
Crossed posts, but same idea.
-
That does look more promising :)
-
Here's the marriage
March 1878 St Giles 1b 651
Jolly, Mary Ann A.
Waite, Charles John S.
-
Well this escalated and came together nicely. I'll be adding all these to my lists of certificates to purchase to clarify. Thanks guys!

I think that marriage with her as Mary Ann A makes it very likely that is the correct death.
