The Caragh Parish Register of marriages on NLI is a transcript made in 1933 from the old parish register.

It appears the RootsIreland transcript is taken from the same 1933 transcript. (Thanks to MyLuck).
My great grandparents married in Caragh, when the Civil Registration images became available on Irish Genealogy I looked for their marriage cert and got a surprise, the dates didn't match and theirs isn't the only one.
The first date on the list below is the Civil Registration date the second is the Parish Register date
Michael Culleton & Bridget Kelly 26 Oct 1870 and 8 Jan 1871
William Rourke & Jane Donnelly 2 Nov 1870 and 6 March 1871
Michael McEvoy & Anne Hourigan 11 Oct 1870 and 19 March 1871
Henry/John Toole & Ann Heavy 8 Nov 1870 and 16 July 1871
Martin Heavy & Mary Fullam 8 Nov 1870 and 24 July 1871
John Connelly & Ellen Dunne 15 Nov 1870 and 28 July 1871
Patrick Geratty & Eliza Murray 18 Feb 1870 and 3 Oct 1871
Thomas Kelly & Esther Morrissy/Murphy 25 April 1870 and 18 Oct 1871 (pity the person looking for her maiden name)
There is more but I just got tired flicking back and forth and making a note of them.
All the pages of the Civil Registration with these marriages are signed and dated by the registrar with a date earlier that the parish register gives for the marriages.
William Rourke’s first child was born May 1871 making Jane either 3 months or 7 months pregnant when she married.
Patrick Gerratty’s first child was born Jan 1871 making Eliza either not or only just pregnant getting married or an unmarried mother.
I hope to contact the parish and hopefully find out if the 1933 transcript is a mess or the register is so badly damaged the difference in dates is understandable or the transcript does in fact match the dates given in the register.
What ever the answer I say the Civil Registration wins the battle. :)
