Hi everybody,
I am looking for anyone who has ancestors called William McLeod and Janet Pollock? There son William Pollock McLeod married my great great aunt Jean Donaldson Ferrier in 1931 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I am basically wondering if anyone out there has any photographs of William and Jean and their life in Canada?
-
Also I should add on William and Jean's marriage certificate, he is recorded as being a widower, so if there are any descendants from his first marriage it would be great to hear from you!

Best way is to try and follow the family forward - have you done this or attempted to do this. It can be quite difficult in Canada because of privacy laws. ???

see Scotlands People https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/search-our-records

Do you have William Pollock McLeod's obituary from the Winnipeg Free Press?? Date - May 11 1948, page 12.
In case you don't have it... it says he was a steamfitter with the firm of Cooper and Farquhar. Retired in 1933. He was aged 63 when he died. He had lived in Sandy Hook, Manitoba and died at Deer Lodge Hospital on Monday (would have been May 10, 1948). He was born in Glasgow and came to Canada 38 years ago. During the First World War, he served with the 18th Battery. Survived by widow Jean. He was a member of Elmwood Presbyterian Church. Burial in the military plot inside Brookside Cemetery.

Scotlands People show his birth as 1885 registered Govan
Was he previously married as he would have been 46 when he married Jean in 1931

Names sort of ring a bell - this was a related thread back in 2014
A relative tried to contact but there was no reply from you ??? With 2 posts the message system might have worked - is there an update ???

Hi, thanks all you replies guys! However I already have most of this information. I am mainly looking for relatives of William, and was hoping in a stroke of luck some descendants of his might be on this site. From a 1891 Census search when he was six years old, I noticed he seems to be an only child of William McLeod and Janet Pollock. It may be possible that William Snr. was married before and had other children.

There is no instant way of us finding specific photographs unless we have an idea of the family, any back ground and where they lived in Canada. It is a rather big Country.
Obviously we have to look at census, check newspapers etc., In future be very specific that you only require that information and no more. Saves us wasting our time trying to help.

Well I should remind you that I didn't specifically ask you to look up the cemetery records etc. And in my original post I stated I was looking for descendants of William, so if anything you have wated your own time! Now if it's such a big issue with you I might suggest you not reply to my posts!
-
That's fine by me. Have noticed you don't always acknowledge when relatives reply to your posts ???

Well again to let you know the reason why I don't "apparently respond" is because I message the other relative on private message and then further correspondence via email etc. Not that is any of you concern of course!

Notice you got no reply to this question CaroleW. Was waiting to see if there was a reply before I posted the info on William's first marriage but it seems the poster must have also had this information already.

I was referring to William's father William snr perhaps being married before marrying Janet. Look I think we maybe got off on the wrong foot, I just didn't really care for your tone earlier "wasting our time" comment.
