This man married Anna Gregory and they had 7 children living in Indian Territory. Family story says he left his wife and children sometime prior to 1910. In 1910 or so, he came to Anna, wanting to return to the family. She asked the children what they wanted and they said they did not want him back. One of the daughters reportedly saw him in San Angelo, TX about 1915. Nothing is known about him after that. There was a man of the same name who lived in Kaufman Co. TX, but that is not who I am looking for.

Thanks so much for this info. Since his daughter saw him in San (not Saint) Angelo in 1915 and he may have still been there in 1918, he may have died there.

I was trying to delve into his past, to see if we could confirm some of John's details. Have you found him (with his siblings) in 1870? Have you found him in 1910? :-\

1870 Montague Co. TX census, Precinct 4:
Davis, Lucinda, 45, IL, housekeeper, widow ? (She has remarried, husband John died 1863-66)
George W., 18, TN
James, 13, TN
Martha, 9, TX
John, 6, TX
Sarah, 2, TX
All these children except Sarah were Masoners from Lucinda's first marriage to Henry Masoner. Both she and Robert Davis, who was living elsewhere, were listed as "W" under the marriage column - were they divorced?
I have not found him in 1910.

Have found the family in 1860:
Name: George Mannie
[George Masoner]
Age: 7
Birth Year: abt 1853
Gender: Male
Birth Place: Tennessee
Home in 1860: Cooke, Texas
Post Office: Gainesville
Household Members:
Name Age
Henry Mannie 45
Lucinda Mannie 53
Thomas Mannie 18
Eliza Mannie 12
George Mannie 7
James Mannie 4
There are quite a few online tree's, but the information on those I have looked at are "questionable" in some areas.

Great find, RayDen. Thank you.
He certainly is difficult to find after 1900. I'm still looking.

Yes, I had the 1860 info. I have considerable info on John Wesley's siblings but just never could find where he died. His brother James Henry (Jim) Masoner/Davis is my ancestor.
