Hi

Are you sure it was Elan. There's a Tyddyn y felin to the north of Llanrug - it's the nearest that I can find on the old OS maps:

Hi Neil

Take the road opposite the PO in Llanrug, Ffordd Crawia. The first roads you come to are Hafan Elan on the left and Cefn Elan on the right. According to the 1840 tithe map on Cynefin the 8 acre small holding crossed the road at this point although it was then spelt Tyddyn Helen. The occupier at the time was John Roberts.

Regards
Glyn

The farmhouse was behind the trees through the entrance which is opposite Cefn Elan.

Here is a screen shot of the tithe map. Plots 599 to 605 belong to Tyddyn Elan and the red block is the farmhouse. It looks like a very large house with outbuildings has replaced it.

You can see the name on this map - https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/253427/363672/12/100954 - zoom out three times.

You can read one name opposite Cefn Elan, on the left side, and there is a less clear one on the right-hand side. It has two names and the bottom one looks like Tyddyn Elan.
