Pease can you have a go at reading this awful handwriting. I can make out TOM BABY JUN 45 and that's it!!!l
-
What is on the front of the photograph?
I think this lists the names of three people, and my best guess would be that the names are:
Lo___ Ba__ Bercic
Farle Latham
Lowery Tur___
I think the 't' in Latham was added after the first pass, and simply missed the mark.

It rather depends what is on the photo.
If it's a small child, it might say Toms Baby Bernie.
If it's a troop of 40 soldiers, it would probably say something different. ;)
-
I think the middle name is Jack Lynam.
-
Would love to see the photo - I thought the last line was sowing turnips!!!! ;D ;D Because is isn't an upper case 'T'. Compare with T in Tom.
First - Tom ? Baby Bernie
And I wondered about Jack Ingram for second line.
Please may we see the photo?
Wiggy
-
Could it be Tom Baley? I also see Jack Lynam. Last line looks like Trump!!
Isobel

The context is so important and also your knowledge of the family/person you think it belongs to.
Looks like
This is Tom baby Bernie. (As in Tom’s baby)
Jack Lynam
Lowry ....
As others have said.
I wondered too about ‘Trump’ but as other names have a capital letter it might be something different :)
-
The 'L' of Lynam looks quite different from the first letter of the first word in the third line. (got all that? ;))
-
I agree with Wiggy. First letter in third line looks like the first letter of what we think is Tom in first line. Could third line be Tommy?
Isobel
-
But then the middle letter of that word does not look like the ‘m’ in Tom the last letter in ‘Lynam’.
-
The two words ‘Lowry turnip’ (just for identification ;D) look to have the same two letters in them -possibly ‘ur’ joined.
-
But then the middle letter of that word does not look like the ‘m’ in Tom the last letter in ‘Lynam’.
;D Exactly - I think it looks like a 'w'! ;D
Tricky isn't it. ;)
-
For what it's worth, this is my take:
This is From Baby Bernie
Jack Lynam
Lowrey Krup
June 45
I've identified it as K with trepidation but I've seena few Ks written like that!

I don't see a T... I see, Son baby Bertie? and sowing turnips? The T in the word this and turnips (if that's what it says) is different to what has been suggested as Tom. I'm not sure that the last word is a surname as it would start with a capital letter. Wild guess...we need to see the photo as context will greatly help.

;D ;D
Well that is one I wouldn't have thought of, Gadget! ;)
-
;D
Think we need to see the front of the card and see who Jack Lynam married and if there was a Bernie/Bernard Lynam (who might be still alive as many 1945 babies are ;) )
-
And were they sowing turnips? ;D ;D
-
And were they sowing turnips? ;D ;D
Nobody would be more surprised than me if they were Wiggy :P ;D ;D
Carol
-
Think the word might me troup?
Jennifer
-
Looking at it again the last line does look like 'sowing turnip'.
Isobel
-
As others have said it would be very helpful to see the photo and understand the context.
This is how it looks to me:
This is from baby book
Jack Lynam
Lowry twins
-
Thank you to all who tried to decipher this writing. We now think this is what it says:
This is Tom, Baby, Bernie, Jack Lynam sowing turnips June 1945
Bernie and Tom are 1st cousins and the other short guy Jack is the neighbour Jack Lynam apparently and yes they lived on a farm so sowing turnips seemed most likely here is the photo and thanks for your help. We still don't know who the baby is but we think it must be Toms as he is holding her.
-
I have been out all day and thought all would be solved ::) ;)

I've been following the thread right from the start, and there was only ever one image posted, of the back with the writing. In reply #1 you were asked what was on the front?
-
Hi here goes second time lucky as my photo in the original post is still awaiting approval grr
Thanks for all your efforts though much appreciated x
I had to rename the file as it said I already uploaded it.

I am sorry I had problems with this image earlier on, all showing ok now ;)

I wonder what the horse was called :D
-
The horse actually looks rather fed up doesn't it! ;) Beautifully kept - lovely shiny coat, but head drooping.
