In 1891 Benjamin Radford is aged 70 and living in Hucknall, Notts, with his wife Mary who is just 50. The eldest child living with them is David aged 24, born Hucknall. Benjamin cannot be found on any earlier census, but died in Basford, Notts in 1896. On the 1891 census he states that he was born in Leicestershire. Does anyone have any information about his birth or ancestry, please?

So he can't be found in 1841/1851/1861/1871 or 1881.  He must be there if he is alive in 1891.

What was his occupation?

The 1891 gives birthplace as Thringstone

Possible 1871 although age doesn't tie with 70 in 1891
