Title: Holcombe rogus parish registers
Post by: Kevwood on Monday 20 November 17 20:15 GMT (UK)
Hi all, I wondered if anyone has access to the holcombe rogus parish registers?

I'm after a marriage for George Wood to an Elizabeth around 1800, maybe a birth for George before that. I'm not certain he was born there as I can't find him in the censuses. But I have two sons there for him, John Wood c1800 and Joseph c1806.

Any help would be great thanks,

Kev

Find My Past have a marriage at Holcombe Rogus 21 Mar 1800 George Wood to Elizabeth Collard. Both were 'of this parish'.

Witnesses look like John Wood and Samuel 'Tooze'?

Thanks a lot, that seems ideal for the marriage 😃

If you go to the relevant parish page on GenUKI, there is a contact for Holcombe Rogus OPC (Online Parish Clerk):
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DEV/HolcombeRogus

Scroll down to "Genealogy".

I don't know if this is your George and Elizabeth- but a George Wood, aged 75 was buried at Holcombe Rogus on 29 Oct 1848 - 'of Hockworthy'.

An Elizabeth Wood aged 37 of Holcombe on 19 Dec 1813.

Thanks, Ages would both be about right, I can't find 'that' George in the 1841 census either though
