Hi there,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me find the burial location of my great great grandfather, Charles Anderson (b.1835 d.1905). Lived and worked on Mid Street, Keith and ran a family tailoring business.
I'm thinking he may be buried at the church on Mid Street - North, Newmill, Boharm, & Rothiemay.
Many thanks,
Neil

There was never any possibility of that, because there is no room there for a burial ground :)

That's him! Thank you so much!!

Hi Steven,
Would you mind doing another Keith look up for Charles's wife?
Her name was Ann Anderson nee Inglis. Born about 1839. Died after 1911.
Also her parents: John Inglis and Jean/Jane Inglis nee Murray. Both born about 1802. Unknown when died.
Many thanks!

There is quite lot of information about burials in Keith at
http://libindx.moray.gov.uk/mainmenu.asp

Sorry, I can't see anything for Ann or her parents.
-
OK thanks!

Ann Anderson died in Devon, England. 15th October 1917 at 82 Alcester Street, Stoke, Devon.
You'll find it on the Libindx link posted by Forfarian. Her maiden name is spelled Ingles.

Fantastic. Thank you!

Hi Steven,
I’m heading to Keith on Wednesday all the way from Sydney, Australia and I wondered if you had a map of the burial ground in Keith that would show the grave location? It’s been a long time coming finding this grave and I can’t thank you enough!
Best wishes,
Neil

You can see a plan of the old kirkyard in the local heritage centre in Elgin Library. The numbers on this plan are the numbers used in LIBINDX for headstones.
I don't know if Keith Library has a copy of the plan.
-
I do have a map of the Old Church Yard which shows the location of the plot but it's too big to upload here.
If you send me your email address by pm I'll send you a copy.

Thanks for your help back in October, Steven. I wondered if you could tell me where that map was from? I believe it is dated 1829. I'm contacting the registrar today to see if I can found out why there was no marker or headstone at the plot.

They won't know the reason for that. The decision whether or not to erect a headstone is entirely up to the family. No-one in officialdom is going to ask them why they decided not to.
