Title: ReminderFox RIP
Post by: Malcolm Bull on Tuesday 21 November 17 17:53 GMT (UK)
Can anyone suggest a replacement for ReminderFox which, until recent updates, worked intuitively and admirably on Mozilla Firefox?

If you do, it's built in!

Otherwise just search for    Calendar   add ins.... Plenty to choose from

Thunderbird is an email client from the same people that make Firefox. I think Hallmark was suggesting you download Thunderbird and then install a calendar add-on to give you the same functionality as you get with ReminderFox (you'd need to manually "move" all your reminders from ReminderFox to Thunderbird, however).

Of course, you wont need to set up Thunderbird to download your emails if you don't want/need to, it's just to give you access to the Calendar add-on. I use the Lightning calendar add-on for Thunderbird.

reminderfox will be updated soon, even one or two of my AddOns weren't available and now they are!

I won't update to Mozilla quantum until Reminder Fox is available as an add-on.  I am adding some dates to the Thunderbird calendar but I don't think it's as intuitive as Reminder Fox.  What I like about Reminder Fox is that if I click on it, it shows me instantly a list of all my reminders, whereas Thunderbird only shows 1 month maximum at a time and looks more like a calendar.  Just preference I know, but like Malcolm I like Reminder Fox.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts on this.  LizzieW comes nearest to my view on ReminderFox, that's why I like it.  Perhaps, I'll just wait until ReminderFox becomes available again.

Malcolm, you'll have to make sure that you've got Mozilla updates set to let you know they are available, but that they can't be downloaded unless you agree, otherwise you'll find Mozilla will just update itself to Quantum.

I updated to Quantum and am using their reminder add-on, it works fine for me, but will see how it goes. ;)

Sorry to say that there is no plans to update Reminderfox ever to the new HTML5 needed to run on Quantum

Oh dear, well I shall hold off updating to Quantum as long as possible then.  To test out Thunderbird calendar I put some reminders in that were also on Firefox reminder.  I normally ask to be notified a few days ahead and Reminder Fox does that and then reminds me daily up to and including the day of the event.  Thunderbird on the other hand reminded me a few days ahead but that was it.  I think there's a way round it so I'll have a play until I'm happy enough to use it totally and maybe then I'll update to Quantum.
