Title: Kirkgunzeon - Mary Dickson nee Harkness
Post by: MrSaunders on Wednesday 22 November 17 23:10 GMT (UK)
Hi there,

I'm looking for the burial location of my great great great grandmother. Her death in recorded in 1872 in Kirkgunzeon so i'm assuming she was buried locally at Kirkgunzeon Church.

Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Neil

Hi Neil,

Just came across your post from November. Can I suggest that you contact Dumfries & Galloway Council by email at  research@dumgal.gov.uk  hopefully they may be able to help.

Good luck.

Dorrie

I have the  pre-1855 MIs and sometimes they list those dying later but on a previous stone. However, there is only one Dickson  listed - Janet Dickson who died October 1872 - and no Harkness.

I agree with Dorrie that it's worth contacting the coucil. TheyI  have found then really helpful in the past.

Hope this might be of interest taken from Kirkgunzeon MIs, it may be of son and grandson of Mary Dickson. James and Mary Dickson are at same address in 1851 census as on MI.

In loving memory of Joseph Dickson son of the late James Dickson, Blacksmith  who died at Brickonside Smithy 4th September 1899 aged 18 years.  Also Janet Thomson widow of James Dickson who died at The Burn, Thornhill 9th January 1912 aged 70 years.  "Thy will be done"
