My ancestors were from Biddulph and Congleton. On 1861 census they lived in Congleton. Thomas Hall died in 1865. The death certificate shows New Road, Biddulph as place of death. I cannot find "New Road" today and wonder if it disappeared or was renamed. His family were living in Congleton on the 1871 census. Could the death place be somewhere other than their home during this period. I saw that Biddulph Grange was a hospital at one time but that was later. Has anyone heard of New Road Biddulph. I recently came up to Congleton and most of the addresses recorded in my notes are still there, havent been to Biddulph yet. Also does anyone know where the forges were in Congleton around 1861

There's a New Road off the A34 south of Astbury/north of Little Moreton Hall. It seems to be listed as part of Moreton. There is also a New Road Methodist Chapel at Biddulph Moor. If you Google 'New Road Biddulph' then you should get these answers.
