Hi,
I have returned with a look up hoping that maybe new eyes/available records might be able to help with my query that has baffled me for years.
It's a bit of a puzzle, I would love it if someone could finally solve it.
I cannot go back any further that my great grandparents as I have been unable to find out their marriage or either of them on a census prior to 1871.
This is what I have so far -
Marriage - Henry Morris & Sarah Ann? - I can only find marriage record for Sarah Ann Harborn, all parish/birth certs list mother as Crowther
Census-
1871 - Victoria Street West Bromwich
1881 - 42 Moor St West Bromwich
1891 - 6 Oak Lane back house West Bromwich
1901 - Henry Morris West Bromwich union workhouse
1892 - Sarah Ann Morris died - 6 Oak Lane
1904 - Henry Morris died - West Bromwich union workhouse
Henry Morris and Sarah Ann? had 7 children (taken from census) -
Sarah Ann b approx 1872 - can't find birth or parish record -
Harriett b 1875, christening 1875 Lyttleton St- mother Crowther
Elizabeth b 1877, christening Hall St - mother Crowther
Henry b 1879,
William b 1884 11 Virgins End, christening Reform St - mother Crowther
Frederick b 1887 98 Richard St South, mother Crowther
Edith Ellen b 1890

Just for information the 1870 marriage Sarah Harborn/Henry Morris -Sarah Ann is age 18 her father Henry Harborn (freereg)
Henry Morris's occ was Puddler - no fathers name on entry

There's a baptism on FreeReg-1854 for Sarah Ann Crowthes HARBORNE-father Henry mother Harriet.

It looks like mother Harriet (nee RICHARDS?) died in 1854-before Sarah Ann was baptised.
Just to put me out of my misery,can anyone spot the Richard and Emma CROWTHER who were enumerated just before the MORRIS family in 1871 on the 1861 census??

Finally I am beginning to piece this together.
Just need to find where Sarah Harborne and Henry Morris were on the 1851 census.

You wont find Sarah Harborn on the 1851 Census as she wasnt born until 1854.
Or Henry Morris born 1852.
As Henry does not name a Father on his M/C he may have been illegitimate and this is likely him;

Sarah Ann Harborne may just be under initials in 1871 Census, possibly in a Workhouse or with relatives and under another name. Hard to pin her down.

Sarah & Henry were married in 1870. 6b 861 Qtr 3 1870 11th Sept 1870- witness william richards & elizabeth grainger/groves?
They are on the 1871 census at Victoria Street West Bromwich.

Have a look at the 1861 census for a Sarah Richards in the household of Richard Newby I think it might be Sarah under the wrong surname

I think that one is the daughter of William RICHARDS and Sarah NEWBY. Brother Isaac is on the 1851 with the parents and a 20 yr old Richard NEWBY in West Brom.

Hi kdcen, sorry I meant 1861 Census she may be just under initials (I have added and edit to my post)
And yes I had the 1871 Census where Henry/Sarah are married.

I looked at the West Bromwich workhouse census and the only Sarah in there of the right age is a Sarah Jones

I still can't find the CROWTHERs in 1861 and I have a feeling that Sarah might be with them. (no reason-just one of those "feelings" ). :)
