Post by: heatherwalsh on Saturday 09 December 17 07:52 GMT (UK)
Hello Everyone, I am trying to help an elderly lady research her family tree. We have begun with,

1901 census Coatbridge
James Gallogley age 36
Mary Gallogley nee mclaughlin age 35
James '' 14
John '' 12
Tom '' 10
Ellen '' 5
Andrew ''3
Annie ''1

The lady i am searching for, her father Patrick is part of this family but not born till 1902.

I cant find the family in 1891.

coatbridge 1881 census
James Gallogley age 47 born ireland
Margaret Gallogley age 40 born ireland
James '' 16 born leith midlothian
John '' 10 born kilbarchan renfrew
Catherine '' 4 born n. kilpatrick dumbarton
Hugh '' 3 born langloan lanark.

Can any please help me find this family in the censuses going back from what i have?

The elderly lady is trying to find out as much as possible about her father's side of the family, this family. She knows nothing at all as he left when she was a teenager. She is now 82 years old and would love to find out as much as she can about this side of her family.

All help given will be greatly appreciated.

She remembers/ was told, that her uncle tom, from the 1901 census was a famous footballer in the 1920's. She does not have a computer, so i am trying to help her.

Thank you everyone.

This looks like the marriage of James Gallogley to Margaret DIGNIAN?  in Leith 28 Sept 1861.   The image is poor but ties in with details of James's father from his death cert.  Both James and Margaret made their mark

Hello,
I am a descendant of James Gollogly born 1 May 1853 Keady, Armagh, Ireland.
who is the son of Denis Gollogly/Golligly born about 1824 possible Armagh or Scotland
and Margaret Kearny.
Many of my Gollogly family line traveled back in forth to Scotland.
In my research I have found Gollogly's with various spelling.
Wondering if you have came across any connections to Gollogly's from Keady, Armagh.
B.G.

My Granfather was Andrew Gallogley he was Tommy Gallogleys brother he lived in Ireland after WW1  and died in 1973 I know very little about his family in Scotland but I know I'm related to that lady as I have the same census form.
