Title: Trying to find a soldier
Post by: heatherwalsh on Saturday 09 December 17 08:18 GMT (UK)
Hello, i am trying to find the records of a soldier named PATRICK GALLOGLEY.  He was born in Coatbridge lanarkshire in 1902. I am searching on behalf of his daughter who is now 82 years of age.  She remembers as a teenager, her father being in uniform and has had the Black Watch mentioned in the past. She is not sure, her memory is not so good. But he left when she was a teenager and never came back.  he did not die in the military she is sure that he was out of the forces when he left home for good.........Where might we find any military records for him?  Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi

If he was still in the Army after 1920 his records will still be with the MOD but you generally need a death certificate to obtain them  :-\

Can you give us a rough idea of the date that he left the family and where they were living at the time

ADDED  Do you have his birth date

When does he disappear from these records or was he missing in 1950

i found he and his wife in 1939 in lochwood but then nothing again until 1950 in glasgow, so i would say missing inbetween there.......my friend is very old, i think she means she remembers him being a soldier when she was little, but when she was a teenager he left the family, this is what i am getting from her.......... i am going to ask her again and will post back to you
