Title: Boer War Soldier
Post by: toby webb on Sunday 10 December 17 17:11 GMT (UK)
From NZ History I read the Boer War details of 7438 Samuel J B Foss and was particularly interested in one of the comments made below that entry. It was made by a Blair McCarthy who said this soldier was the uncle of his grandmother and that she still has his medals. I would dearly love to have a photo of them for Samuel Foss was part of my family. I am wondering if Mr. Blair is a reader of RootsChat and whether he can add to his 2014 comment. Thank you. Toby Webb.

This Probate file too ...

Will signed as "J. Beart FOSS"  which tends to indicate he was perhaps known by his second christian name "James"  ??

Lucy2.
I should have added that there were so many Samuel Foss that I had to give them numbers. T

Thanks to you 2 ladies I now know more. Quite a lot was already known to me but there were other bits and pieces which I probably would never have found. Many thanks indeed. Let's hope my luck so far continues with my quest for the medals. T.
