I am trying to find more information on the parents of Mary Thomas and Joseph Binns who martied in Tong during October 1831. Would the marriage register show this information. Both Ancestry and Findmypast have records of the marriage but no fathers are shown.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Ancestry has the image of the parish register (also the banns register, though this is less informative), and FindMyPast has the image of the bishop's transcript.
So if you've seen those, that's all there is to see. As you've found, none of these names the parents, which is to be expected given the format of an 1831 marriage register, though there's sometimes a clue in the names of the witnesses.
Tong is one of those rare places where some pre-1841 census returns have survived - in this case for 1801, 1811 and 1821. These name just the householders and give the number of people in the household. I think the originals are at Bradford Archives, but I don't know whether they're also available online or in print anywhere.

Marriages at this time would not show fathers. That didn't happen until 1st July 1837. One of the witnesses might be related. If you can find them on a census you would get approx year of birth

On 1851 Joseph Binns occ Mechanic (same as marriage record b abt 1808 Cleckheaton, wife Mary b abt 1811 Halifax

Thanks for the answers. I now know not to expect fathers names on marriages pre 1837...

There is entry on probate index for Joseph died 1868. From GRO index he was 59 when he died. As he died in Q1 he mall not have had his birthday in the year of death, that makes year of birth 1808 / 9 which agrees with 1851 and 1861 censuses.

In the Yorkshire, England, Extracted Church of England Parish Records on Ancestry there is a transcription of baptism for Joseph son of Samuel Binns of High-moor Carrier on 27 Mar 1808 but says Hartshead not Cleckheaton. Joseph does have a son called Samuel, I think he was the oldest.
added
Hartshead only about 2.5 miles from Cleckheaton, so could still be a possibility

Many thanks for the replies. I have done a lot of research on Mary and Joseph and have already looked at a lot of records. I posted as I am specifically trying to find anything on their parents; especially Mary as there are a few possibilities. Its a fairly new area for me trying to go before 1837 for births.

Yes at these dates the two main churches in the area for a baptism for someone born in Cleckheaton would probably be either Hartshead or Birstall. Both churches are called St Peters.
The area had a high number of nonconformists as well, so there would have been a number of Independent chapels
'of High-Moor' could mean Hartshead Moor.

The above entry 1851c Joseph Binns born Cleckheaton 1808 is the correct Joseph and Mary Thomas
Joseph's son Reuben Binns aged 8 born Shibden (Halifax)
GRO births has
REUBEN BINNS, Mother's Maiden Surname : THOMAS
