Hi,
For many years I have been trying to find my great great Aunt ,Susan Rowe Jordan, b1854 Falmouth.
She was a prostitute in Falmouth as a young girl and I lost her in 1877 when she witnessed her sisters wedding. Someone has emailed me to say she may have married in South Africa in 1880,someone named George Gilbert. Anyone who could help with information on this couple, marriage details, children possibly,it would be great.

We have been looking for this relative for fifteen years or so, this is so exciting, goodness there may be relatives still in NZ who knows. Her house was called Pendennis, well if they named the house that would be more verification,as Pendennis Castle,is in Falmouth,Cornwall. She had a very tough start in life,so to think she had a long marriage and children well,it would be wonderful.

Thanks Sandra. Do you,think Matilda was the wife of Thomas or another child? Susan seems to have had a number of children, but I am getting a bit lost with them all now!! I have John Henry,Charles Ernest, Irene, Lavinia, Thomas,Arthur Edward and possibly Matilda so far.
I went on to the find a grave site and under the photo of Susan it verifies that she was born in Cornwall in 1854, yippee!!

I have his newspaper death notice which I will forward by PM shortly. It however shows his name as Ivan Hansen REYNOLDS but as a 'transcript' I believe this is an error. The date of death shown here is 6.6.2008 and this ties in with the death registration above.
Details of the actual death notice would confirm that this is indeed Ivan Hansen Reynolds GILBERT....

With the known ROWE & GILBERT connection, perhaps Thomas Henry ROWE was a brother of Susan GILBERT nee ROWE?

I suspect that as Morrisons did the funeral he may have been cremated at Morrisons premises.Both Morrisons and Davis FD's have their own cremators now and some records will be hard to find due to this,

Most of the information in this forum about Susan I already have and am happy to share. Judy found me via my FindAGrave entry for Susan's gravestone at Waikaraka Cemetery in Auckland NZ where I live (with my partner who is directly related to Susan). Are you in touch with Judy?.
