Title: William Healan missing
Post by: wdytya on Friday 22 December 17 14:45 GMT (UK)
Have searched the census records for a William Healan and tried different spellings but no joy. He married a Mary Catherine Dunn( born 1891) in Cardiff  Dec qtr 1912 11a 857. It could be that William was born in Ireland or if not his parents possibly as there is a strong Irish line with his wife Mary's family who were living in an Irish family area of Cardiff.

Any suggestions where to look for William would be very helpful as I have come to a full stop.

Where and when was he born?
Difficult to look with just a name, and even if we found one, there is no way of knowing if it is the right person or not without some other info about him.

You may be best getting the marriage cert to find his fathers name, his occupation, hopefully an age and an address at time of marriage to help.

Or do you at least know when "your" one died? Giving an approx. year of birth for starters! If not it is a case of waiting for 1921 census to find the couple on there.

ADDED I assume William was around until c1925 as per Cardiff births

1911 has an 18 yr old William Healan bn Cardiff.  So could well marry in 1912.

But, as said, no way of confirming if this is the right person or not.

On your previous post you show on the 1891census that the Healan family were living at 34 Eden street. I wonder if this should be Ellen Street?

What a good range of spellings!
Given the above spellings of Healan it is no surprise that I have not found a death record for William Healan. I have searched under the spellings of all the names above, then I searched for all under first name William only from a year before the birth of his last child to when his wife remarried. Given the large numbers to search I restricted the search to the Glamorgan area on freebmd but with no luck. Maybe he left his wife and went back to Ireland.
Thanks to everyone who has helped me in this search and others during 2017 and I wish you all a merry Christmas and good luck in your family history searches in 2018

Have found a Healan page on Facebook and they say many examples of the name being spelt in many variations.
It just adds to the fun of the chase!!

It's very cramped on the page but the previous page is far clearer and is definitely Ellen Street

PS - they are indexed as Eather on the site I checked!!

Looks like a 2nd marriage for Maurice, father Maurice, after wife Bridget’s death in 1893. To Mary Fitzgerald, father Patrick, on 21 Aug 1897 at St Peter’s RC, Roath, Cardiff.

Having searched freebmd there are quite a few Dunn’s born in Cardiff 1891/1908 so difficult to work out whose who!
Please can I impose on you to give me the children’s names born to Thomas Dunn and Ellen Crimmins.
