Hi Everyone, Been trying to find my 3rd Great Grandfather.
His Son was John Tuplin Wright born 1860 in Louth, Lincolnshire.
George married a Frances ___, I know nothing of George or Frances and can't find a marriage for them or find them on census.
John Tuplin Wright is in the 1881 census but cant seem to find him till then.
Have a good Christmas everyone and thank you for your help.

James Wright son age 10 bn Kirby (sic), Lincolnshire
Frances Wright dtr age 10 Kirby (sic), Lincolnshire

There is a Frances WRIGHT with Ann (48) in the 1851 census.
I think perhaps a search for a TUPLIN (perhaps George) might be useful in 1861.
Beat me again Rosie :( ;)

And in 1871 possible listed as the son in law (stepson) ?? Living in Tetney

Hi everyone, and again a big thank you to everyone for your help.
I did think earlier when researching that John Tuplin Wright may be illegitimate as could not find anything about George Tuplin Wright.
I did find the census results that you have found, I really need to buy his certificate.
This is what it says on his marriage record:
Surname Forename Grooms Father Bride Brides Father
1887 19-May Wright John Tuplin George Tuplin Lyall Rebecca blank Authorpe
-
Looking at the image of the marriage I notice that one of the witnesses was Lucy Hanson - possibly John's half sister??
-
I suspect that John's birth certificate will not name his father. The GRO are currently running a 'PDF' service where you can obtain the details for £6 instead of the £9.25 a certificate would cost. The only difference is the details are not embedded into a 'certificate' template.

George Hanson could have been his father and the parents married after his birth and he gave a mixture of names when he married. Does the occupation match up to George Hanson's on the marriage certificate for John?
If there is not a father named you may find a baptism that may reveal his name?
Jennifer :)

In 1871 George Hanson is listed as an Ag Lab and at the time John married his father George was listed as a Labourer
-
I doubt that George Hanson is his father. In the 1871 census when John is living with his mother and her husband George Hanson John is described as 'Son in Law' whereas the other children of the couple are noted as Son or daughter.
I have not yet found a baptism for John.
-
I have just ordered his birth certificate as a pdf format so will have to wait to see what it says.
It will be interesting to see
-
Let us know when it arrives :)

I quite agree.
If HANSON had been his father, John would have used that surname. :)

Happy New Year Everybody,
I have just got the PDF certificate.
John Tuplin Wright, no father on birth and mother is Frances Wright.
So maybe when he got married he just made up a father using his names and then his step fathers name.
Thank you for your help.

That sounds very possible :)
