Bicycles brought A.P. Morrow to Elmira in 1895 when the Eclipse Bicycle Co. moved here from Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. Morrow was superintendent of the plant and inventor of the Morrow coaster brake. He left Eclipse in 1905 to establish his own business. In 1907, the Morrow Manufacturing Co. was organized in Elmira and capitalized at $25,000. His son, J. Edwin Morrow, was a partner, and they manufactured parts and supplies for automobiles and bicycles. Originally on LaFrance Street in 1909, the company moved to South Main Street and built a new plant in 1910 manufacturing machine parts, including orders from Glenn Curtiss, who was building airplanes in Hammondsport...............etc etc

hi Sandra
just had a quick read of the 46 page Digital Format , fascinating to read thanks
-
It has taken sometime for the service files to be digitalised - Latest box digitized - Box 9059 and last name Smith. Something like 532,447 of 640,000 files are available online at the moment. Prior to this people were buying these files at so many $ per page - so nice to have all that detailed info for free.

hi Sandra
being digitalised is a brilliant idea and good that its free , on the findmypast on the 1939 register its a dear way of looking up households but the price is gradually coming down , I am looking forward also for the 1921 census to come out a petition was sign about 2 years back to get it put on line but we are still waiting ,(( on saying that I exspect it will be dear to start off with
-
Did I read the 1921 wouldn't be released until January 2022 ???
