Title: Derby manufacturer of sugar rolling mills
Post by: toby webb on Wednesday 27 December 17 12:07 GMT (UK)
I have failed, through all the normal routes, to remember the name of a company in Derby that was making rolling mills for the sugar industry in the 1950s. This heavy industry may have had other products. Can anyone help? Thanks, Toby.

Have been messing around with Google and come up with "George Fletcher", Masson works, Derby.

1914  Manufacturers of all kinds of machinery  for sugar  factories and refineries.
1956 Acquired by Booker  Brothers, McConnell and Co.

Hope this might help.

Sorry, computer down at the moment, but I agree that it’s George Fletcher ... and you’ll find considerable info about the company in Grace’s Guide online (just google it).

Yes. It was Fletcher. I visited them as a student. I shall be able to sleep tonight now. Many thanks, T
