Title: Richards Family Alabama from 1870
Post by: Lance Matthews on Thursday 28 December 17 18:48 GMT (UK)
I am struggling with the children of Edward Richards born 1826 in Tennessee. I am told his wife was Elizabeth Mooney and they married in 1843 in Wilson, Tennessee. When Julius Vance Richards, one of the children died, it shows his mother's name as Elizabeth Parker.
The children were
John R or B Richards born 1854 Tennessee
William E Richards born 1856/1857 Alabama
Julius Vance Richards born 12.05.1859 Alabama and have his marriage details
M.A. Richards (Female) born 1861 Alabama
L.S.E. Richards (Female) born 1867 Alabama

Looking for confirmation of precise birth dates and if possible who and when they married and where.
Like to know what the girls names are, so I can then look for their details.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you. I at least now have the widow Richards and her 2 single daughters in Ozark. I feel sure that Elizabeth Mooney was the girls mother. The confusion arises on the death certificate for Julius Vance Richards who died 09.05.1951, where it shows his mother as Elizabeth Parker.
Have found Julius V Richards in the 1880 census living with his brother and wife in Troy, Pike, Alabama.

Fascinating. Did he get a pardon.

I don't know. But when he did get out he moved to Louisiana and then eventually to Ohio where he died in 1951. He had children living in both places so that is who I assume he went to live with after he got out of prison.

His daughter Mrs. T. N. Evans was the informant on his Death certificate.

Many thanks for the information. I had found Alma Potts who was married to Julius Vance Richards Jr.
I am now trying to find the connection between Helen Emily Pooley and Allie (nee Richards) Matthews.
Helen was born 02.01.1925 and married Major Dellmont Pooley. Helen was the niece of Allie Richards.

There is no Julia Evans with the birth date 22 August 1901 listed on the SSDI which was fully up and running by 1962/62.  So perhaps she had passed away before then.  Also tried any Julia with that birth date and nothing showed.

It is strange, as I have got all the other children of Elizabeth & Julius Richards Snr. and their respective partners. She could have another christian name. In some of the census records it shows Glenn B Richards and then you find the correct information for Bascom Glenn Richards. A brick wall to be knocked down, in the future.
