Title: Bryans Galloon Fermanagh
Post by: Soni10 on Saturday 30 December 17 16:38 GMT (UK)
My grandfather was Charles Bryans, b 14.7.1881 in Gourock, Scotland who moved to Australia in 1924.

I believe his father was Alexander Mathewson Bryans, b 8.8.1855 in Govon, Scotland.

I believe Alexander’s father was Charles Bryans, b 1827 at Galloon

I’d love to hear from anyone who may have a connection with this branch of the family.

Whilst it is also appropriate for Scotland my main purpose was to find links in Ireland for Bryans in Galloon, Fermanagh.

Hi Soni10,

Re Charles Bryans B.1827 Galloon Parish. Where did you find this Birth date? I have searched available records for Galloon Parish and can find no mention of ANY Charles Bryans. Charles is not a name I can find used by the Bryans family's of Galloon Parish. However if you have some strong evidence I would love to know about it.

There are quite a few times the name Alexander was used though.

Regards Rusty

Yup,

Got that, but shows Grogey not Galloon. Possibly the same family, but the birth day at 1893 is just slightly later than the 1827 Galloon that is mentioned.

Open to offers though..

I know....was just posting links to records that are available online, didn't study them as their religion wasn't given.

No point in wasting time looking at Methodist records, for example, if they weren't Methodists.

Wow.  Thanks for the interest in my question and your willingness to help.

I’ve just returned from o/s (N Ireland in fact and we found Galloon but museum was closed for Christmas)

When I catch up with myself I’ll find the sources again.

Cheers

Alison.
