Hope somebody can help, tried many years ago. Looking for a Thomas FitzGerald, born c1820s,
married a Bridget Sheehan, c1840s. Son Thomas C FitzGerald, born 1850, Rathmines. On Thomas C. marriage cert. 1874 states his father was deceased.. Father Chief Engineer.
Any info, e.g. death, marriage or birth info of either Thomas or wife Bridget would be appreciated.

You could check on www.irishgenealogy.ie it has Church Records for Dublin for the period you mention on your post Civil Reg didnt begin in Ireland until 1864 :)
-
They seem to have only one child Thomas, and I don't see Thomas Sr. in the Will Calanders, you'd expect an Engineer to at least have an Admistration.
I wonder as there appears to be only one child if Thomas Sr. died shortly after his son was born?

Hi Dathai and others,
Thank you for all of the replies. All very interesting, but the ones that seem to interest
me are: living at 3 Beresford Place, around 1862, Having a grandson named Thomas Burke and the grave at Glasneven. I never heard in the family anything re United States. Still no mention of
his wife Bridget Sheehan - I have a copy of a Baptismal cert. of his son Thomas 1850 with both parents name on ?????
I still have to have a good look at each one, but thank you all for your help.

I am not sure I am following this properly, so I apologise if this is wrong.
I posted on the other thread re Limerick and have just seen this one.
There are some births to a couple Thomas Fitzgerald and Bridget Sheehan/ Sheahan in Limerick.
These are from the indexes and some have latinised names.
This one is before the marriage :-\
Jacobum Fitzgerald baptised 17th March 1835 Shanagolden, Limerick
(James)
John Fitzgerald baptised 10th September 1836 St John's, Limerick city
Cathe Fitzgerald baptised 24th September 1838 St John's, Limerick city
Jacobus Fitzgerald baptised 13th August 1838 Shanagolden, Limerick
Mary FitzGerald baptised 12th September 1840 St John's, Limerick city
Patritius FitzGerald baptised 4th November 1844 Cahirnorry, Limerick
These could be checked with the Catholic registers.
The 2nd James and ‘Cathe’ would indicate that the Shanagolden couple and the City couple are not the same.

Yes that is one of the ones I posted. I had a look earlier but no real information to add.
I would think that the St John’s baptisms are the family here, if any.
-
Thanks everyone for their input.
Just a query. For Bridget, death etc. they seem to be mentioning Thomas as a Clerk! Do you
think this is the same Thomas? Where he as earlier as Chief Engineer. I must admit I havent
gone into the Glasnevin records as yet.
Karhel.

When Bridget died the informant was her daughter Kate T Coles
Kate T Fitzgerald married John Coles giving her father as Thomas Fitzgerald,Civil Engineer

A Kate T Coles died aged 74 in 1919 in Chorlton,Lancashire

Thank you. My info was from civilrecords.irish genealogy records... Thomas B.FitzGerald, 1885, age 70 Irishtown Road, Clerk. Bridget, died 1890, age68 Londonbridge Road. Both with Kate, daughter
as informant. husband Clerk.
Can I take it that these are the same family. This will help me a lot.

My great grandfather was a stonecutter as was his father before him his brother was one and his son's as well ,on his childrens certs birth and marriage i get as occupation a stonecutter a mason and a sculptor and even labourer on one, he would have had to serve a 7 year apprenticeship as would most likely your Thomas C the same usually from the age of about 14.
You most likely have found the right marriage in Limerick the daughter Mary there as well it would be interesting to see what's on Kate's birth cert in Southampton and Michael's if you could find it circa 1843,all the moving around makes me suspect he may have been in the military but i could be wrong there.
I also noted Thecla was born in Irishtown 1875
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1875/03092/2133681.pdf
Michael Fitgerald was a soldier on his marriage in 1885 it would also be interesting to see who he gave as his next of kin on his service record if it still exists.
He would have been in the army a while as you had to get permission to marry.

Mrs Kate Teresa Coles is buried in Southern Cemetery, Roman Catholic part, in what seems to be a public grave.

Hi heywood and others
Thank you once again for all the info.
Decided to send for d.c. of Kate T. Coles. It seems she was knocked down and run over by a car (1919!!!!) and died from her injuries. No other info re informant. Now to see where she was born.

Is this her?

I had that information, but never managed to find it. Other siblings seem to be from Limerick.

Yes but she gave that as her birthplace in a census if I recall.

Michael also says born England
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Waterford/Waterford_Urban_No__4/Rose_Lane/1762207/
other possible children born else where
Christopher Fitzgerald sponsor on James baptism 1897
Philip Fitzgerald on Michael's baptism 1889
now i know James and Michael had brother's by these names but they would seem quite young to be Godparents

Can I ask for any help on this query please.
Getting along well with the FitzGerald clan! One big query.
Found Catherine, (Kate Theresa) and received info from Southampton born 1845. But #12 shows
a 'Catherine' born 24,09,1838 Limerick parents Thos/Bridget. Is it possible that this Catherine
died and my 1845 Catherine was given the same name but seems to be known as Kate Theresa, e.g. on daughters birth cert. and on her death cert. I cannot find a death for Catherine 1838.

It often happens that a child is named after a deceased sibling.
Most online parish records do not show burial records.
What was the occupation shown for Thomas on the birth certificate?
-
Catherine (1945). Thomas down as a Writing Clerk!!!!
