Title: Elizabeth and Jane Taylor Forrest Hill
Post by: scottw67 on Monday 01 January 18 13:15 GMT (UK)
Hi

I'm looking for any help with any information about the following two people ...
Elizabeth Taylor b 8Th March 1901, Forrest Hill.
Jane/Jennie Taylor b 27Th December 1905 Greenwich.

Mother Jennie Peters b 1876 in Manchester, D 1917 Camberwell
Father  Alfred Taylor b 1874 West ham, D 1907 Greenwich

What I've found out so far is that after Alfred died Jennie Lived with Alfred Twist and had 6 more children. When Jennie Died in 1917, the Twist family moved to the Hastings area, but Elizabeth and Jane did not go with them. I do know that Jane was admitted to Lewisham workhouse on the 18Th June 1918 and then discharged to Intermediate Schools Wandsworth on the 21 June 1918.

I've tried searching the 1939 Register, but have come up blank.

I guess my question is where do i go next?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Scott

By 1939 they were probably married.  Have you looked on freebmd for marriages?  You will struggle given that Taylor is a very common surname

If either died 1969 onwards their full D o B should be shown on the death reg

You could try searching for Elizabeth/Jane/Jen** deaths with those birthdates then try matching the death surname with a marriage to Taylor

Just wondering whether you've noticed as a matter of interest that in 1901 Alfred E Twist was the 15 yr old son of Alfred and Jane Taylor's neighbour Emily Twist?

1901: RG13/560/73/36.

Alice is my Grandmother, she married Henry Edwards in 1917 and moved from London to Leeds, its at this point she lost track of her sisters, she tried looking for them after the the second world war but could never track them down.

Thanks for the reply.

I've tried to cross reference Jane & Elizabeth with the same DoB's in the 1939 register and Marriages, but have draw a blank, same with deaths after 1969.

That sort of says to me they died before 1939, I'll go back and check the BMD records.

cheers

Scott

Yes, its the same person, the 1911 census record states them as being married for 4 years, but I've yet to find any marriage record
