I have been looking for information on corporal H Surridge, service number 6284681 of the Auxiliary Military Pioneer Corps. I found some on WW2talk but it was very limited, so I thougth I would try here as well. All I know is that he was seperated from his regiment in France in 1940, made his way down to Spain and then back to the UK. But that is all I found out. I know there is info at the UK archives concerning his escape but I want to know about his family back here in the UK, is there anyone that can help?
He was born in Mile End in 1913 and died at the age of 83 in the Canterbury area. I want to trey and find out if there any relatives alive as he apparently was help by the resistance in the area where I live in France and I want to see if there are any records of his experiences in my area.
Happy new to you all by the way.

They could possibly still be alive, better remove. Maybe PM them to poster.

If you want to learn more about his time in WW2 you could consider purchasing his service record from the MOD. Let me know if you are interested and I will provide you with the appropriate links. There is a cost of £30.

Rusky, concerning your comment made about his service records, I believe I may need authorisation from any surviving relatives. I might have it wrong, but I believe that is the law.

You can order them but apparently you receive limited information if you are not NOK. How "limited" I do not know :):

If you could obtain the permission of one of his NOK that would obviously be better for you.
