Someone on here kindly helped me find a marriage entry that took place in India for a friend (her
parents) purchased the certificate and thought once had fathers name would find more information
about her grandfather for her but searched through all military records in vain and can find nothing
can anyone help or point me in the right direction I am looking for information of Edward Reginald
Gilbert died in India circa 1926 she believes he may have been a officer Her mothers name was
Mary Frances Gilbert but listed in entries as May Gilbert born c1916 in India I believe Had two
sisters and a brother she lost contact with the family when father died as was boarding in a
convent in India and I believe never returned home to her family her mother tried to find them
unsuccessfully. I am trying to find the paternal line for her .

Its been a while now had no success searching for my friend
This is what I know
Her mother grew up in on the Shimla estate somewhere and went to a convent boarding school
She worked as a nurse in Delhi,Hyderabad.Islamabad and Karachi she married her father in1944 in Dahra Dun The marriage cert has her father HQ B.O.R Coy Group 4 Clement Town.
She believes her Grandfather was a officer His Name Edward Reginald Gilbert
her mum was born 1917/1918/1919 24th May Uk death records have 1919 and was baptised in a catholic church Mary Frances Gilbert she had older sister Ella and a younger one Betty (may have been short for Elizabeth )
Looking back over my search i have Katrak Maternity Hospital ( Opened by Lady Dufferin in Karachi 1894) and my friend put well done but not sure which branch her mum was born in .
She would love to find her Aunties or cousins thinks they may possibly have emigrated
I know it is like looking for a needle in a haystack and have searched army records in vain for her grandfather so just re posting on the offchance.
