Looking for the parents to James CARSWELL born 11 September 1768,  Stewarton, Ayrshire, Scotland, he may also have a brother William.

Located references to surnames CARSWELL and STEVENSON being listed as CARSELL and STINSON in some records. There may be some weight to this, as the Ayrshire town of Stevenson is often referred to as STINSON. I was born and raised in the adjacent town of Saltcoats.
