Helping a friend-- ---my lot have come to a standstill !!
Lily Louise Collins--born 1901/2 Littlebourne
M. Edwin Harold Payne Sep. 1924 Littlebourne.
I have details of Marriage and know the children of the marriage. What my friend is interested in is Lily's life before she wed.
I cannot find anything else apart from her marriage and her children. No life info before she wed.
Have been told her father may be named Frank. Also a possibility she was the niece of Walter and Eliza Smith also possible sister named Molly.
If anyone fancies a change of direction from their own lot ?? i would welcome possible pointers.

Only Louisa elsewhere. What does she give for parental info on marriage?

What details of the marriage do you have? The certificate should name her father and his occupation and state if she was a widow or spinster - how old was she when married? She may have been economical with the truth.
Do the childrens birth registrations have mothers maiden name Collins? (Don't post the names if they are still alive)

Looks good - registration is Mar qtr 1902 so consistent with birth in Dec 1901. Bridge is the right district for Littlebourne.

Her marriage is available on Findmypast father name just Frank no surname?

Her uncle Walter Smith married Eliza Cox, Dec qtr 1875 Thanet.

Uncle Walter Smith was born in Stodmarsh (Bridge district) - his birth reg Mar qtr 1850 mmn Hogben.
From the censuses it looks like he had many sisters!

Anne c1854
and a niece Emily c1860
Most of these dates look early to be in the frame for Lilian's mother, so perhaps he was in fact a great-uncle?

Eliza’s mothers name was Adams just looking for other sisters born to couple.

Later on Ruby is in Kensington with "widowed" father Frank Collins b c 1865 Kensal Green and brother Thomas Collins b c 1898 Notting Hill.

It looks as though "Louie" may in fact be Louisa b c 1874 St Nicholas - a daughter (rather than sister) of Walter Smith.
Annie Curling whom she is visiting in Littlebourne in 1901 may be her sister Annie Smith, b c 1877 St Nicholas, married Sep qtr 1898 Thanet to Harry George Curling. (Marriage was 30 Jul 1898 at St Mary, Minster - parish record confirms Annie's father was Walter.).

It so happens that my friend is calling in today so i'll try to find out any more possible family info.
She is already interested in sending for L.Louise M cert and i will give her the B cert details also.

Hello avm,----- i have re- joined FTM as my sub lapsed last September. I know have access to both FTM and Ancestry. However i cannot find the following that you showed.
Ruby Amelia Collins mmn Smith birth reg Dec qtr 1899 Fulham.
These Collins are also proving evasive !

You don't need a subscription site to see index details for Ruby Amelia Collins' birth registration - they can be found for free on www.gro.gov.uk (which includes mother's maiden name) or on FreeBMD (which doesn't).
