I am hoping someone might be able to have a look for a marriage - it should be in 1881.
Between
James William KENDALL, born Aug 1854 from either Shoreditch, Middlesex, England or Dorking, Surrey, England, Father: James William KENDALL, Upholsterer (aka William or William James)
And
Mary (surname unknown) born approx. 1864 from Adelaide, S Australia
Thank you.

I searched extensively for this marriage in SA as per your last request. I hold resources for marriages for SA for that era. I think you need to consider that they never married as James W would have become a bigamist as his first wife Ruth, was still living. Of course the people you found on the 1901 and 1911 census in England may not be your people of interest.

Not sure which current thread to post this...
James William KENDALL a widower of Auckland New Zealand ... his accidental death in 1920 at Newcastle (NSW)
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/139433539 7 Feb 1920 Newcastle Morning Herald. Coroner.
Buried Sandgate Cemetery, Anglican, See: http://sandgate.northerncemeteries.com.au/index.php/search-our-virtual-records/conduct-a-search
I should mention that errr.... from the commencement of civil registrations until around mid 1920s ... sometimes coroners' staff may have arranged for the coroner to issue a burial order BEFORE the Coroner had completed his investigations, and then when completed, no one remembered to advise the funeral director of the findings, so the formality of completing the civil registration of the death was NOT finalised. (public hygiene issues, particularly in summer heat). I mention this as I have not found the death indexed at NSW BDM online. NSW BDM death certs include informant driven info about the deceased's marriages (including name/s of spouse) when and where married, and children of the marriage. :(

Thank you CANDO for searching for the marriage and for ruling out my JW from the news items. Thank you majm for finding information on the burial and CANDO for proving the JW who was buried in 1920 was not likely mine either.
I think I'll try NZ forum to see if anyone can find a marriage there. A 17 year old girlfriend could send a wife with children fleeing back to her mother!
Thanks again!

Why not search for yourself?

I doubt they married.
