I have had fantastic help with certain members of the Higgins family and if anything can be found regarding James Edward Higgins born 1868 in Tatworth, Somerset He was I believe a school teacher possibly in the Kent area before moving to Warwickshire where he was a police detective. I believe I have a photo of him with a wife and two children. A boy and a girl that looks a couple of years older. Any help would be fantastic.

What is the source of this info?
I can see a James Edward Higgins bn 1868 in Chard, (rather than Taworth) who can be traced through the censuses. PArents George (a policeman) and Charlotte. He is a teacher in Kent on one, and then James marries an Ada and has 2 children and is indeed a policeman in Warwickshire later.
We can give you all the census info if you want it, but dont want to type it all out if yuo already have it!

Thank you so much for your very speedy and helpful response. I do not have the census or any marriage or children details. I have a photo with his school class and one with a wife and girl and boy (names not known). It does seem rather strange that he moved from Kent to Warwickshire but that was the info handed down to me. Tatworth is a small village a mile or so from Chard. It seems a long way to move firstly to Kent and then to join the police force in Warwickshire. If it is correct that he was a detective, they might have been looking for a certain type. His father was a policeman in the Chard area and his brother became chief constable of the small force at Neath.
Just for your background info, his sister Bessie (my gt grandmother) had my grandmother Margaret in Yeovil in 1902. She was living with her father at Trent Mill about 1 mile away and it is suspected that a Charles March of Trent was the father. A year or so after my grandmother's birth he married a women from the Warwickshire area and this Charles March had a brother who was in the police force in the midlands. all very intriguing and I though I would just add to give you some family background. Thank you for anything you can find out.
Huge thanks

Very many thanks for your hard work re my grandmother's side of the family. I have posted a forum note on Charles Higgins, a younger brother b 1863 in Crewkerne, Somerset. He was a sols clerk who has just disappeared. When my grandmother was alive she thought that he had drowned but I can find no clues about him. I have looked in the past at census returns both here and the USA, death notices, Tatworth (nr Chard) church records, military records. I have either missed them or has he just disappeared. His eldest brother George committed a murder and killed himself in Tredegar in Wales and at the inquest it mentioned that 4 years early an older brother came from the USA to try and help him sort himself out. This is the only person that fits and if that detail is correct then there is hope at sometime something might turn up.
Thank you again for all your help,
Mark
