After a spectacularly horrid Windows 10 update after which my Laptop initiated and carried out the Lenovo automatic repair sequence, I believe that everything is back where it should be (!) with the exception of the Trash Bin which has vanished. I have followed the sequence through settings, but to no avail. Can anyone assist please?

Vanished from the Desktop? Is this the sequence that you used?
- Settings
- Personalisation
- Themes
- Desktop icon settings
- ensure that there is a tick/check next to 'Recycle Bin'

Yes, tried that, didn't work. What I intend doing is setting up a folder labelled Trash and using that for the time being. Unless someone comes up with a solution. Thanks for reply,

Do you mean Recycle bin?
Try doing a search for Recycle

It is not part of Windows.
I've obviously got a Packard!!

I've done a bit of reading and in one similar instance someone on a forum suggested that running Disk Clean-up (a Windows system feature) would fix this issue. The OP did not respond, so it's not clear how accurate this was.
Several people thought that the workaround in the third post down in this thread was helpful:
