Hi JJ

As I mentioned in my post I had found the entry in 1841 and the birth of his son Richard in Handham in 1810. I am now trying to trace hi baptism

Kind Regards

David

Had you seen FindMyPast's transcribed baptism -

Thomas Seabage, bap 5 Jan 1796, place Fittleworth, father Charles Hawkins, mother Sarah

Very puzzling!

PS - like JJ I read your original post to mean you were looking for where Thomas was in 1841

hi Hanes

Sorry for the confusion, I dont this that this can be the right Thomas unless it was a late baptism as the con was baptised in 1810 and the Census record all put his birth around 1781

Many thanks

David :D

I've been casting around for any other mention of the 1796 Thomas Seabage (eg. marriage) to rule him out as "your" Thomas. Nothing as yet.
Sight of the original register might yield something (no guarantee!)

Hardham and Fittleworth a stone's throw apart - all so frustrating

Hi All

Many thanks for your help, I think I have now quite possibly got back to a birth in 1736 in Egdean  Sussex and ther the trail end, but the family seemed to have originated in Petworth.

Kind Regards

David :D

I have now quite possibly got back to a birth in 1736 in Egdean  Sussex

BT, 1736
August ye 1st
James, the Son of Tho: Sebbidge Laber. was baptized
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-DR88-XD?i=794&cat=67822

There's a burial in Egdean (previous image) of a Thomas
March ye 1st Thomas Sebbidge was buried

That was 1735 (or 1736 as we would say today)
