Looking for information on parents of John McCliment born 1836 likely in Ireland, died 19 March 1899, in Morrisdale, Pennsylvania and Elizabeth Dixon born 1838 in Scotland or Ireland, died March 1905 in Hawk Run, Morrisdale, Pennsylvania.
I think John's father's name may have been William.
Thanks.

I have found a death certificate for an Isabella McCliment Dixon in Hawkrun (Aug 25, 1938)
And her parents are listed as John and Elizabeth McCliment, and both born Scotland.
Is this a relation?

Also, I this the gravestone

I pretty sure she must be their daughter especially since she was in Hawk Run, PA and McCliment is a pretty rare name. Plus the dates are plausible.

The dates on that grave stone match what I have for the John McCliment & Elizabeth Dixon in my tree. Cool to have it.
That's great, at least now I have a specific place in Scotland that they probably were.
Thanks so much!
Also, how would I go about using that information to continue the search?

You'll find birth. marriage and death records available on Scotland's People website (just register for free then purchase a few credits to start searching...)
Click on 'report to moderator' and ask for this topic to be moved to Ayrshire board for more local advice ;)

Thanks. The original McCliment's I'm looking for were born in Ireland. I recently found out that they lived in Ballyhalbert, Ireland and then moved to Dalmellington, Scotland.

Scottish certificates contain far more detail than Irish ones. Have you checked all possible Scottish records to see what details are actually listed?
Scottish, or U.S., census records should list country of birth for Elizabeth Dixon.
A birth certificate for one of the children should possibly show date and place of parents' marriage (see Scotland's People for what is included in certificates for which years). If the marriage took place in Ireland then you'll have a location in which to start searching. Civil registration of non-Catholic marriages began in 1845 (from 1864 for Catholic ones).

Hi. I know that this is an old post, but I have been looking for my dad's dad for a long time. His name was John Dixon McCliment, but he sometimes went by "Jack". My dad's mom's name was Dorothy Booth. He left when my dad was about 12 or 13. I don't know if he was married before or after. I found some information that says he died in Illinois, if it is the same person. I do know that when he was married to my grandma they lived in Illinois. Any information would be helpful. I didn't know John Dixon McCliment was a common name and thought it would be easier to track him.
