The problem is that on documents its states born Chile,  south America Ireland and England. The only verified documents are his arrival Hobart on Morayshire 1913 from England, marriage 1917
and death 1928. He was as Radiologist. I am interested in his life prior to 1913. Thanks

May I clarify what his surname is please?  Is it CUNLIFFE OR CUNCLIFFE?  Where does the OWEN name come from or are we looking at a double barrelled surname?

Do you have his marriage certificate?  If so does it state his father's name and occupation?

Do you have his death certificate?  If so does it say anything about his parents?

What information is there on his arrival at Hobart?  I am assuming there is a record of some sort as you mention the vessel as being the Morayshire.

This information may assist in finding out more about Granville.

The only possible passenger on the Morayshire which left 26th July 1913 is a Geo. C. Owen going to Hobart shown 28 (bc.1885) and described as 'Consulting Engr.'.

Can see no birth for him in England, or Ireland, nor can I find his arrival here between 1885 and 1913.

The closest birth I can find for Owen is this one:-

OWEN, GEORGE  CECIL     COOK
GRO Reference: 1886  M Quarter in WOOLWICH  Volume 01D  Page 1255

Unlikely to be the above, found a marriage which may be his.

Marriages Sep 1908
OWEN    George Cecil        Preston    8e   1277
THOMPSON    Margaret        Preston    8e   1277

If I have the correct George in 1911 his occupation is Soldier Trumpeter!

Lots of documents and newspaper clips online.

On his son’s birth certificate it states
Father: George Granville Owen, 43 years old born Chili America.
That is 1926 in Adelaide

So date of birth from that would be 1882-4 depending when in the year he was born.

I cannot see how the cutting confirms he was born in Chile. The notice is stating his parents ARE there in 1917. The notice is based on info SUBMITTED to the newspaper, who would have no obligation to check if a) those were his parents and b) if they were alive and living in Chile in South America.
