Hello, this is a family of some English colonists in Barbados around 1895 that I was hoping to have restored somehow. There is a lot of damage to this one. Additionally it seems that when the photo was initially digitized there is some artifact seen in horizontal lines. No need to colorize or fix the sepia tone, just looking to fix the splotches and lines if possible.
Thank you for any and all attempts!

I gave it a go for you staying close to the original...the silverfish have had a picnic on this one ;D

Not easy was it Andy :-\

Thanks so much, these are great already! You all are very fast at this. It's a skill I'd like to develop for myself one day.
-
Well done, both :)
I've just started it and it really is a difficult one with the patchy clour, fish, banding and differential focus. I'm not sure when/if I'll finish.

A first go with a slightly different tone. The program that I use for de-banding (Topaz) tends to soften the image. (A slight bit of texture might help!)

I struggle with anything that requires a bit of 'art' work. Stick men are my limit. :)

Another with a bit of vignetting :)

Very Tricky - but nice to play with. Bit heavy handed with the texture I think. :-\

A couple from me.
Doesn't the old lady have a lovely character-filled face.

Interesting that you think the middle woman is wearing specs, Peter. I think so too. ;).
I think I can see the reflection in her specs, the arm across her temple and the bridge over near nose!
We've been having a discussion about it. :)
-
Yeah, pretty sure I can see specs.
And then there's Andy's little lamb. Only noticed it when I scrolled through the restores to post mine. I can't quite see that :), although the child does seem to be holding something.
Peter

Yes I thought she was wearing glasses too.
Carol

Thought I could see specs on your restore, Carol.
-
Yes definitely specs wearer. My guess is that they were posed as such to avoid reflections.
The child's cuddly: I didn't even notice it until I was around halfway through the job! I threw everything at it to determine the actual shape and the lamb was the only thing that really fitted. Obviously my lambs head is fake, but I reckon that its pretty damn close as everything lined up when I put the layer over the original.
Edit: I would love to know if the child was named Mary..... Mary had a little la.............

Not quite as musical but certainly alliterative, "Lorna had a little lamb..."
Thanks so much for everybody's work on this, I had no idea they would turn out so great.

Another late two to add to the wonderful restores already done. I have left one with the darker original colouring and one with lighter tones.
I see Andy has given Lorna a little lamb, but I didn't know whether I could see some longer ears, so I have given her a bunny.
Peter commented on the older lady's face, the first thing I thought when I saw it was the comment made by the late comedian Sid James, 'a lived in face', I think she is lovely.
