Hello,
Can someone please confirm or otherwise that George WHITELOCK was the husband and father missing from the 1841 and 1851 Census at HO107/276/3/14, p.22.and HO107/1880/179, p.61 respectively? I'm sorry I have no other details except possibly he may have been a "serviceman" and died before 1851.
Thank you,

Husband and father of whom?
Do you have a basptism or marriage for him?

The Caption reads "WHITELOCK Family" and I have stressed about George WHITELOCK "I have no other details".
-
1851 census states all children born East Stonehouse, Devon - cannot find any baptisms for any of the children anywhere in Devon.
Why do you think the missing 'man' here could be called George Whitelock?
According to GRO index the maiden name of the mother of the youngest children Mary was Carne - cannot find a marriage between a Mary Carne and a Whitelock either.

I'm confused. If you know he was a husband and father, surely you at least know his wife's name.

There is a marriage in 1883 of a Richard WHITELOCK (ex Stonehouse) who married Annie Eliza HOCKER and could be the son mentioned in the 1841 and 1851 Census.......the Marriage Certificate states his father was a George WHITELOCK (Deceased) and had been a Pensioner (RM).
NB: Richard WHITELOCK was designated a Widower, but I could not find an earlier marriage
I posed the question originally "please confirm or otherwise" if this George WHITELOCK could be a connection to the missing husband and father.
-
When you posed the question, though, we didn't know who "this" George Whitelock was!
Out of interest 1891 has 71 yr old widower Richard Whitelock bn Devonport, who is a Naval pensioner. Probably related somewhere.
Does the marriage cert you have for a Richard give an age? Could be this guy remarrying late in life rather than the younger Richard we found before.

The Marriage Certificate (c/o FindMyPast) only quotes the ages of bride and groom as "Full"
Richard WHITELOCK retired from the Navy on 14/01/1885 and became a Pensioner. I have now unearthed his first marriage in the 2nd quarter of 1862 to Rebecca GILL. She subsequently died in the 2nd quarter of 1877.
