1881, I am trying to trace my Mitchell family, missing so far on 1881, but I do know round about that time they moved to
CUNDY ROAD, WEST HAM,
I know there were definitely there by 1886 but I cannot find it listed, I have no idea where it is in Essex
This will tie up with a message on London Middlesex looking for Mitchell on 1881 and a missing son
Thank you in anticipation, any help much appreciated

Thank you Jonw65
These are both mine, 10 births in all, MMN Darby, on 1891 they are down as being born West Ham
This family is really causing me a headache, I want to find them on 1881, I have searched several forums and census for them, found all of them where I need but 1881 they are evasive, I really don't know where to look
Appreciate the info

What address is given on Arthur John's 1881 Birth Certificate?
-
I haven't got all birth certs, 10 of them,
Charles Henry 1874 shows 1 Elizabeth St Poplar,
Henry Stephen 1877 and Arthur John's 1881 I haven't got, had hope to find baptisms for them, next one 1886 shows Cundy Road
I did pay for a 6 months sub from Seax where I got a lot of info, done a lot more work on the family since, I really don't want to have a sub for SEAX as I already have Ancestry and FindMyPast
Many thanks for your interest

You could get a PDF of the Birth Certificate for only £6 ;D
That will give you an address in 1881, and (probably!) solve your mystery.
-
Yes I think it will K G
I have spend lots of time with various combinations, to be honest I don't think they are on 1881
Thank you

Just to say, I think Arthur may have been born in Bromley.
As all the others I could find in the 1881 census who had the same GRO reference, 1c 680, were in Bromley St Leonard, and were born Bromley.
If so, it's a slight change from where the Mitchells were before, which might(!) explain the lack of a baptism, but not the absence of the family in the census.

You are right John, if I can find baptisms in Canning Town area I might find some baptised a bit late, the father was a mariner so perhaps money was short till father returned home, I think there was a fee for a baptism, so I am led to believe
