Im trying to trace back the line from Robert Jones b 1815, Denbigh, baptised July 1815. He married Sarah Griffith in 1838 in Wrexham (need to order his marriage certificate).
Sons: David, John, Henry, James (eldest son Robert)
He was a printer compositor as were his son, grandson..
Loved to know where he learnt his trade...was his father also a printer compositor? which papers /publishers did he work for?
Any information would be of great help.
Thank you

Not sure but I think you might have the wrong marriage date/place, would this seem right to you?
11 Oct 1939, Denbigh
Robert Jones, full age, bach, printer, res- Denbigh, father- David Jones, hosier
to Sarah Griffiths, full age, spin, no occ, res- Denbigh, father- Robert Griffiths, labourer

(PS Have suggested that this might be moved to Denbighshire as this is the Welsh Language board)

After much looking, I think it's Beacons Hill:

Thank you so much.
I must have somehow got wrong date/place for marriage.
His brother was also David so this makes sense...and some of the girls in family line named Elinor.
Love to find a trade directory for his father.

I can't find David and Elinor on the 1841 or a definite marriage. There are some marriages in neighbouring parishes but no info on them about occupations. Will try to find burial records.
Maybe you could check Welsh Newspapers as well : http://newspapers.library.wales/

Found David's burial:
Denbigh - July 17 1829, David Jones, hosier, Beacon's Hill, aged 62.
So born circa 1767

Thank you again.
I initially thought David may have come from England..? Might be red herring though.

Why do you think he was from England? David Jones and a hosier fits well with the area.
I have to go to Dentist's now but will look for more info when I get back :)

Thomas Gee was a printer in Denbigh.
I have a family who in 1841 were in Ruthin., father was 48 and a printer / compositer .
Later records show his daughter was born in Birmingham c 1835. I think he went there to learn / improve his trade.

Interesting, Wilcoxon. Do you think that Robert Jones and David Gee might have known each other?

Added -as far as I can remember, the censuses show Robert's children born Flintshire , Denbighshire and (possibly) Caernarfonshire.
I've not found any evidence of his father, David, the hosier, going to England, which was what the OP had thought might have happened:

Robert Jones'descendants entered the same trade and headed for London eventually.
It's been very interesting to trace the line one step further back with the hosier.
Thanks for all the info
