Title: Graveyards/Cemeteries Outside Derry
Post by: jacqui63m on Friday 26 January 18 23:34 GMT (UK)
I am trying to locate a graveyard/cemetery that would be, I'm assuming, not too far outside Derry.
It could well be, a now, disused graveyard. Possibly somewhere in or near Carrigans or in that general direction.

Failing that, from an old letter, it is written "buried just outside Pennyburn" Pennyburn being in the Templemore Civil Parish, Barony of NW Liberties townland of Derry

"...St Patrick's Church, Pennyburn for Requiem Mass at 11.30am. Burial afterwards in St Baithan's Cemetery, ..."

these are RC.

You don't say what Religion yours were!

Sorry, I should have said. Catholic.
The family I am looking for is McCartney. Although many of the family were buried in Derry City Cemetery, a few individuals chose to be buried elsewhere.

As St Patrick's wasn't built until 1930/31 it wouldn't have been here that they had their requiem Mass. St Baithan's, however, is a good possibility for burial.
