The Beeton`s one may have been compiled by the husband of Mrs.Beeton, she  wrote the famous book of household management. Isabella Beeton.
Try to see if any are first editions.
Hang on to them anyway. At lest they will have great interest value.
Let us know how you get on.

Mrs Isabella Beeton (nee Mayson) lived a very short time 1836 to 1865, only 28 years.

Her husband, Samuel, sold the rights to her books and name to Ward, Lock & Tyler in 1866.

After a couple of name changes, Ward Lock & Co was used from 1897.

So your book may not be quite as old as you think.

Is there no publication information on the reverse of the title page or shortly thereafter?

The editor of the book H W Dulcken could be Henry John William Dulckan aged 58 who in 1891 was a Literary Authors Editor, he died in 1894 as Henry William?

You do not give us much information to go on and unfortunately the scan with the other titles is blurred (The Steam Engine was published in 1854)

Beeton's Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Universal Information was published in 6 volumes in 1875 your edition states 4 volumes so it would seem to be before then.

However -

Ward & Locke started publishing in 1852, your edition was published by Ward Locke & Tyler the companies trading name from 1865 to 1873.

Its address moved to Salisbury Square, London in 1878.

However that does not help you as the company’ trading name was changed to Ward Locke & Co. in 1897 so your book must be after that.

It would seem that even though the encyclopaedia was revised and enlarged to 6 volumes the company may have produced smaller editions or changed the binding to produce an edition bound in 4 volumes rather than six later, but I have no evidence of this.
I do know that various books produced in multiple volume sets did change the number of books in a set from time to time.

Sorry to confuse but I hope this helps
Cheers
Guy
