Title: Fanny Collins
Post by: corinthian on Thursday 01 February 18 07:59 GMT (UK)
Hi,

I am looking for any details for a Fanny Collins, born in Godstone, Surrey, England in 1856 to a Robert Collins and Rose/Rosa Elliff. Robert died in 1857 but I believe that Fanny and, maybe, Rose/Rosa may have emigrated to Australia. Sadly, if correct, Fanny Collins may have died there in 1861.  Can anyone help me with this family?

Regards

Coreen

Just click on the index entry Coreen to get more info such as age and place of birth (it's not obvious).

I've been looking in the newspapers for a death notice or accident etc but without success so far.

I haven't followed this through properly yet, but there is a death of Rose Anne BRAND (age 46) in 1911 in Victoria whose parents were JOHNSON, William Brand and Rosina ELIFF.

Modified to add: Sorry wivenhoe, looks like you got the family  ;)

So Martha was Rose's sister and then William married his sister-in-law?

formerly of Surrey, England, aged 67 (57?) years.

adding : No looks like just a coincidence that there were 2 William JOHNSON's from Surrey living in Napier St Fitzroy.  The Vic BDM gives this man's spouse as Annie Jackson

Hi everyone,

Thanks for response. Just got back from work so am going to look through everything you've sent me.

Yes, Fanny Chandler nee Elliff is my family so will be having a look at her - lost her after the birth of birth of her son in 1850 so now know she went to Australia. The Johnson's are the same family.  Loads to look at.

Once again thanks for input.

Kind Regards,

Coreen

Hi Ros, Maddy, Solidrock and Wivenhoe,

Have now had a chance to take a good look at all the information you've uncovered. It's definitely sorted out a few loose ends for me. Some very interesting stuff. I didn't know, for example, that Rosa/Rose Elliff went on to marry her widowed brother-in-law, William Johnson.  I wasn't aware of the BDM, Victoria website either.

Thanks for all your help. It's much appreciated.

Regards

Coreen
