Best to confirm exactly when daughter Jane was born in New Zealand as the following extracts are on Family Search-
Marriage of James Graham (father David) & Sarah Speer (father Nathaniel) on 3 Dec.1868 Londonderry registration district-
   https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FGZ4-PY1

Birth of son William  24 Nov.1871
   https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FPYZ-SBY
Birth of son James 3 June 1873
   https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FGH5-85J

The actual birth record for William gives the address as Rosemount in the City and father's occupation as carpenter-

James' birth shows same details-

A Nathaniel Speer, who may or may not be Sarah's father, died 10 Dec.1864 aged 42 years. Death certificate not yet on Irish Genealogy site (will be available from GRONI, as the 1868 marriage, after registering and purchasing a few credits).
Newspaper death notice- (extract) in Derry Journal, 17 Dec.1864-
December 10, in this city, Mr. Nathaniel Speer, gardener of Gwyu’s [?] Institution, deeply regretted.

Marriage of James Graham (father David) & Sarah Speer (father Nathaniel) on 3 Dec.1868 Londonderry registration district-

Would a Marriage in Dec 1868 be registered in First Quarter 1868?

GRONI only show 1 marriage of a James Graham in Derry district from 1867-1869- that of James Graham on 3 Dec.1868 to bride Speer.

Strange. Both can't be right.

The 1868 church marriage record for James Graham and Sarah Speer showed the fathers as David Graham, a blacksmith and Nathaniel Speer, a gardener.

Ninth April 1865, at Rosemount, Derry, David Lewis Speir was born, the son of Nathaniel Speir of Rosemount (Gardener) and Mary Anne Kearney:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1865/03573/2316755.pdf

Other possibilities I can see are Glendermott parish Church of Ireland baptisms for a Nathaniel and Mary Anne Spear/Spears/Speers of Altnagelvin, he was recorded as a gardener: Mary Ann Spear b. 3 November 1849; John Spears b. 28 March 1852; Nathaniel Spears b. 3 June 1854; James Speers b. 16 November 1860; William Spears b. 8 March 1863.

There is also a church marriage for a 20 year Robert Speer of Londonderry who marrried Eliza Wallace in St Columb's parish (Church of Ireland) on 2 June 1865, his father recorded as Nathaniel Speer, a gardener.
