Ellen DEEGAN, RC baptized 18 January 1857 in Ballyadams Parish, Co. Laois, marries James Reilly on 23 October 1877 in Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny. The couple have 16 children, born between 1878 and 1903.
Husband James (baptized 26 December 1849 RC St. Abbans) dies on 18 October 1915 in Carlow. His death certificate says: widower. However, I have been unable to find the death of his wife Ellen, in the period 1903 and 1915. Any help will be appreciated.

Why not look for James on 1911 Census as see if he is a Widower then?
-
In the 1911 census, both are reported living together.
I forgot to mention this; sorry. (And I once encountered a person reported as living in the census who had died a few years before the census date.)

The search for Ellen's death should be between 1911 and James' in 1915 if he was a widower at that time.
His record is not accessible on line LINK (https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details-civil/5161643153912?b=https%3A%2F%2Fcivilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie%2Fchurchrecords%2Fcivil-perform-search.jsp%3Fnamefm%3Djames%26namel%3Dreilly%26location%3DCarlow%26yyfrom%3D1915%26yyto%3D1915%26submit%3DSearch)

Yes.
You'd need to look for Ellen Reilly!!
-
I know (see Subject field of this message)! But have been unable to find her death.
-
I had a look in Dublin as sometimes people were sent there for medical treatment but didn't see her.
Her death may not be registered unlike the UK you don't need a civil registered death cert to be buried just a doctors cert so many deaths were never registered.
