It depends what you mean by "Chemist". He could just have progressed from "mixer" to working in the laboratory etc., of the firm he was working for. Where was it?

Thanks, Stan. They lived at Manchester, Lancashire. I have been trying to establish who was the father of my great great grandfather, Thomas Aldred born circa 1833. The silk weaver, Enoch Aldred (father) in this record was most likely an uncle, not the father. Thomas Aldred was a chemist/druggist then became a master chemist. While it was possible that he fitted into that family I believe he was actually the son of another man who was born around 1803 (brother to Enoch) who was also a chemist. Enoch Aldred is related as his name comes up in a dna test match. Thanks so much. :) Deb
