I am in the process of checking my family tree with the use of an Ancestry subscription which I bought for myself as a treat at the start of the year!
I have WILLIAM DYSON, born 1822, married Martha Sykes in 1845, Elland, Yorkshire.
Just come across his baptism on 4 September 1859. Clicking on to the next page I find baptisms of three of his children on the same date. The person recording these baptisms has been helpful in recording the birth dates as well - which means that William was 37 when he was baptised. Was this unusual? (And bearing in mind the marriage in 1845).
It has given me his parents' names, (William and Sarah) so now trying to find them on 1841 census. Not having much success, so hope someone can put me in the right direction here.
Would appreciate some help - just to make sure I am interpreting the information correctly!
Thanks.

No it is not unusual to be baptised as an adult, sometimes they are baptised again into a different faith, or he was missed as baby due to all sorts of reasons, never to late
Have you found them on the following census after baptism, hopefully there is an address in which he lived

Some people get baptised on their death bed, just in case !

Found this, don't know if it has a connection
26/02/1837 baptism William Dyson Elland York, in selected baptisms

His children were 5, 3, and 1 when they were baptised, so it could be they had just joined the church and the minister had persuaded them all to be baptised on the same day.

looking at the children of William & Sarah (m. 1819 Halifax, mn. Horsfall) there are these children:
1821 Henry
1823 Benjamin
1827 Joshua
1830 Elizabeth
1832 Mary
1835 Abraham
1837 Willam
1839 Harriet (from census, no Bapt. found)
1842 John (ditto)
1845 James (GRO gives mmn as Horsfall)
Obviously William b. 1837 puts a spanner in the works but I'm wondering (if it's the right family) that he was Baptised under another name & changed it to William. Appears not as the only 2 he could have been is Henry & Benjamin & they are both married & in Derbys. in 1851.

Looking at the dates again - I think I have made a mistake with his death! I have 1863 down, but there was another child born after that date.
Edwin (b 1862) & Sam (b1865) were baptised 17 May 1868
