Can anybody please help decipher part of an old letter? It is an application for a child to be taken into an orphanage. The handwriting is terrible but I have worked out most of it - there is just half a line that baffles me, and another word further down. All help most gratefully received!!
I have:
Sir
Herewith from Mrs Parker
in reply to your note of
12th inst. The relatives of
the Orphan xxx addresses
for live some miles off.
I write to them by this
Post for their sanction for
the childs removal and xxxx
should I hear from them
will write again. If they
consent I will fill up
the Paper you sent. One
of the Child’s Uncles I
hear resides in Bristol
I will try and get his address.

could the first word be child P or R as the word looks similar to child's further on but with a small c

I think its Mrs P- as in Mrs Parker mentioned above. Am leaning towards it being child Parker and child P as Wendy suggests - it certainly makes more sense. I can't see the word after as addresses but not sure what it is.

I was just about to write exactly the same things! :)
At the bottom of the page, he writes "address" with a long "s". Whatever it is after child P. is, I don't think it's addresses.
Edit: The little line under what we are taking to be "child" (The relatives of the orphan child) is bugging me. Could it perhaps be something like the abbreviation for William, i.e. Wm, with the "m" smaller and underlined? Just an idea...
2nd. edit: Could it perhaps be The relatives of the orphan xxx xxxxxxxxx for him some miles off. (?)

The child in question was called William Snell. Looking at it again I don't think it says "addresses "now either! The problem with trying to decipher stuff like this is once your brain has "seen" a word its difficult to see anything else!
Thanks for your help so far - if we could just get to the bottom of that missing half line it would be great!

I am still not convinced about for live some miles off. :-\
His "l" is loopier in other words. I still think it could be applied for him.
Also ;D, I don't think it's "Herewith" at the beginning. I see a capital "I", but no "H"...

I am now wondering why the "K" in "Parker" is so big.
Just an idea (I really don't want to complicate things!), but could it be:

I xxxx for Wm P an(d) Kin... (?)

I'm happy to be contradicted where necessary so long as we get there in the end. Doctor's writing is notoriously bad even these days and was obviously no better back then. Makes me wonder if the recipient of the letter was as baffled as we are!
The writer of this letter was a doctor!!!!!!!

Its DEFINITELY Mrs Parker because she appears elsewhere in other documentation written by somebody else with a better hand!

I'm coming to this one late, but I agree with Dawn and Carol i.e. I write for Mrs Parker and ....the orphan Mrs P applied for live some miles off.....
