Hi, I’m trying to find out more about my great grandmother. On 1911census she lived in Manchester England. But was born in Ballingarry Tipperary. She married John Obrien around 1908. I think she had a sister Mary Ryan and possibly more siblings. That’s about all I know, I’ve been told there is a family farm in Ballingarry. Can anyone help?!?!?

Hi casmith,
Here is one that I found earlier
No, I can’t see a marriage either.
I wonder if this is Kate’s birth- awful writing but number 291

Have you found the twins births? I can find a Joseph O’Brien with mmn Ryan but not the twins.
I wonder if she was married previously.
-
I think this is the Kate from the birth record but there are a lot of Ryans and I can’t find a marriage in the right district.

Confusing a bit now because topics are merged.
However, here is Kate O’ Brien in 1911 b Ballingarry with husband John b Ballingarry both Tipperary.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XW1Z-ZWD
Ballingarry, Tipperary is in Callan reg district
I have linked to one such Kate and also family in 1901 but of course she may not be the right one.
-
That is the census, they lived in Manchester. If only I could find the birth certs for the twins, I’ve hit Joseph’s.

I have a Kate Ryan born in Ballykerin Ballingarry 4 Jul 1878 - a distant relative- on the tree the information I have is died in Manchester and married an O Brien that is all the info I have and it could Just be a coincidence!!
-
My Catherine/Kate Ryan did die in Manchester and Married John OBrien. It could be the same person. She had a sister Mary Catherine aswell. I’ve been in contact to Mary Ryan’s family over in New York and she said that the family farm was in Bally Kerri. A lot of coincidences. How are you linked?
-
I have been looking at Catherine’s mother being Mary Toohey? And Father William Ryan. Not sure yet if this is correct yet?

My replies #3 and #4 refer to this Kate Ryan.

I believe it is the same family Mary Tuohy/Toohey who married William Ryan of Ballykerin Ballingarry was the daughter of a gt granduncle of mine Patrick Toohey. William and Mary had at least 6 children one was Mary Kate b. 8 May 1877 who went to US and married Husband's surname was Brett. Does this match with your information? I have a Public tree on Ancestry and if you cannot get on to it PM me your e-mail and I will send invite.

I’m on ancestry aswell. I’ve done the dna test and Mary’s Kate’s granddaughter in newyork has done the test as well and we match on DNA. I’ll PM you. All exciting!!!!

That is brilliant news casmith :)
I did find a possible for John O’Brien but no matter now. :)
-
Hey wood, what have you found on John Obrien?
-
I haven’t found anything on him. I had just looked through Irish births for a likely John and there is/are possibilities.
